AA Third / 3rd Step Prayer
Anonymous God, I offer myself to Thee-
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!

A novel yet ancient thought on turning will & life over:
All recovery is spiritual, but step 3 more-so, is a challenge to the mystical.
Mystic; Greek μυστικός or mystikos, means 'an initiate', which many are when reaching the third step. Here we make a decision based on our second step experience.
To crave an intimate, consuming, radical, no half measure
step 3, is the beginning of becoming a mystic!
I.e. knowledge of, and especially a far deeper and more personal experience of God.
This usually includes states of consciousness, actions like increased prayer and levels of being that are intimate and indescribable.
Thus; is step 3 anything less than a mystical ascent? What was my "decision" in step 3, surrender or did I hold back to some extent? The mystic surrenders with joy.

_ One AA step 3
or universal 3rd step prayer:
The Prayer of Francis (of Assisi)
o Let us start by looking to a worldwide classical prayer, as a meditation.
This is the prayer of Francis, a young monk and mystic, living in medieval Italy.
Let us read his famous petition to the God of his understanding, but as a meditation, one that many peoples around the world have shared for centuries. Francis, of Assisi Circa 1220 AD {Page 99 in the AA 12 ‘n 12}.
“Its author was a man who for several hundred years now has been rated as a saint. We won't be biased or scared off by that fact, because although he was not an alcoholic he did, like us, go through the emotional wringer. And as he came out the other side of that painful experience, this prayer was his expression of what he could then see, feel, and wish to become:
"Lord, make me a channel of your peace--
that where there is hatred, I may bring
love--
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness--
that where there is discord, I may bring
harmony--
that where there is error, I may bring
truth--
that where there is doubt, I may bring
faith--
that where there is despair, I may bring hope--
that where there are shadows, I may bring light--
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted-
-to understand, than to be understood--
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds. It is by forgiving that one is forgiven. It is by dying that one awakens to eternal Life.
“Let us become willing to partake and be strengthened and lifted up by the sheer spiritual power, beauty, and love of which these magnificent words are the carriers. Let us look now upon the sea and ponder what its mystery is; and let us lift our eyes to the far horizon, beyond which we shall seek all those wonders still unseen.” AA 12 'n 12

A modern step 3 "surrender in humility" prayer

The mystic knot, or the endless knot. The more esoteric or spiritual meaning of this symbol eludes to beginnings and endings
Ascetics or asceticism is an ancient term that we pause here to introduce, as recovery is a series of ascetic acts. Asceticism is hard spiritual labor. Be it prayer, making coffee, covering yourself in mud and living in a cave as some Hindu monks do, or throwing yourself in a freezing stream in January in ancient Ireland. People have gone to great lengths to improve conscious contact and turning will and life over since time immortal. All lead to the spiritual awakening or stem form a desire to increase conscious contact,
