The Flower Ornament Scripture: Step 2/3 A Buddhist poem...
The Supreme water spirit ocean
covers the earth with clouds
the rain in each place is different
but the spirit has no thought of distinction
likewise, Buddha sovereign of truth
extends clouds of great compassion in all directions
raining differently for each practicioner
yet, without discriminating among them.

The House By The Side Of The Road
There are hermits souls that live withdrawn In the place of their self-content;
Drunks 'n addicts - compulsiveness's of every kind and many a malcontent ...
There are souls like stars, that dwell apart, In a fellow-less firmament;
there are pioneer souls that blaze their paths Where highways never ran---
But let me live by the side of the road and be a friend to man!
Let me live in a house by the side of the road where the race of men go by---
The men who are good and the men who are bad as good and bad as I
I would not sit in the scorner’s seat, or hurl the cynics ban---
Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man!
I see from my house by the side of the meeting by the side of the highway of life,
The men who press with the ardor of hope the men who are faint with strife
But I don’t turn away from their smiles or tears, both parts of an infinite plan----
Let me live in a house by the side of the ‘phone’ and be a friend to man!
I know there are brook-gladden meadows ahead,
And mountains of wearisome height...
That the road passes on through the long afternoon and stretches away into night
But still I rejoice when the newcomer cries and weep with strangers that moan,
Nor live in my house by the side of the road Like a man who dwells alone
Let me live in my house by the side of the road where the race of men go by---
They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong,
Wise, foolish---suffering, so am I;
Then why should I sit in the scorner’s seat, or just help them go on by…
Let them not live inside all alone but carry the message were I can…
Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man!

Home group
A home group's a family in more ways than one...
when there's a decision it's where it get done
The "seven n seven" used to be my drink
now it's a meeting that get's me to think
Gather at 6 for meeting at 7
unless David fell into wino depression
Then we drop all 'n come running for you
cause that's just the way our home group does do!
We have different topics some old some new
we shop for a speaker who'll challenge ya through
we serve up some coffee sugar and tea
with big smilin faces and bags a candy
We greet at the door all the new faces
encourage them to sit in new places
we always call on newcomers who show
with hopes that they'll sit 'n let themselves go
and when it's a birthday we gather with joy
for be it a girl or be it a boy
as we've struggled together each day of the year
when you get some time we all want to cheer!
so, go on your way into new life
carry the message free from all strife
practice this message in all that you do

HINDU Philip Appleman Step 11?
Hindu
O Karma, Dharma, pudding and pie,
Gimme a break before I die;
Grant me wisdom, will and wit,
Purity, probity, pluck and grit.
Trust worthy, loyal, helpful, kind
Gimme great abs and a steel trap mind,
And forgive, ye Gods, some humble advice-
These little blessings would suffice
To begat an earthly paradise;
Make the bad people good-
And the good people nice,
And before our world goes over the brink
Teach the believers how to think.

On Being A Woman Dorethy Parker 1893 - 1967 Step 11
Why is it, when I am in Rome, i'd give an eye to be at home
But when on native earth I be - My soul is sick for Italy?
And why with you, my love, my Lord,..
am I spectacularly bored,
then do you up and leave me, then
I scream to have you back again............!?

‘Drugs are Darkness’
I try to forget my hurt and sorrow
Art: Friend in Germany, her very personal tattoo of her Sajja, or vow to never use again, taken at Wat Thamkrabok Thailand see Tattoo page
I try to forget my hurt and sorrow
- But it always catches up tomorrow.
I try to see the beauty in the day
Sometimes I gel lost along the way.
I trip, I stumble, I fall to the ground
I get up again feeling lost, yet found.
I try my best to find the meaning of it all
Yet in doing so, I tend to trip and fall.
Like a spiraling leaf in a gust of wind that’s mean.
I stumble around trying to see where I’ve been.
Sometimes its blurry and I have no idea
Other times it’s crystal clear.
A life of drugs is not a life at all
Unless of course you like to stumble and fall.
And if a life of drugs you choose to live
A message to you I'd like to give.
If you value your spirit, your gift of life
Your families love, your husband or wife.
Your friends who love you; your children as well
Please don’t open the doorway to a living hell.
It may seem like fun in the beginning
But I promise you with my soul, it’s only darkness grinning.
As it destroys your body, spirit and mind
It feeds on your addiction worse than any crime.
Drugs are a murderer, a rapist, a thief, and a liar
They only take you down, they never aspire.
To nurture your spirit, to embrace you with love
They are a velvet covered razor blade glove.
That will strip you to pieces along with the people that love you
These people, not drugs are what is true.
They are merciless, feeling-less, destroyers of all
Please believe me when I say to you, they make you trip and fall.
It’s not fun stumbling around in the darkness of night
Searching for yourself in this deathly fight
Whoever you are, when you read this poem
Please don’t take drugs if you want a life of your own.
They are no substitute for love or for the feeling to belong
They are no substitute because your life’s gone wrong
They can never nurture you, they can never be
What it is you are looking for, to be free.
Don’t be afraid to feel overwhelmed with life and it’s ups and downs
Don’t be afraid when your troubles rebound.
We need sunshine for rain and tears for laughter
We need a beginning for an end, a before to have an after.
So don’t let drugs into your life if you want truth, love, and light
Don’t let drugs into your life, please try with all of your might.

Came to Believe, ROB T.
when i woke up today
remembered I'd thrown it all away
got wasted...but now see some truth
last night I twas so uncouth
no I’m not the only one
who wants to just let go and run
feel myself slip away wid a gun
might be better than with some rum
god damn i am a simple man
i don’t take anything I can’t plan
when you say my name i have no shame
its just that I’m the only one to blame.
and i remember all these times
when guns a blazing i should have died
its divine - my shells not hard to hide
but was crazin - my god i lied!
now i know this ain’t the end
I’ve seen the skies and i depend
on this cloud sweet unknowing friend...
because "our" Gods the only thing in the end.

I got High for Too Long!
Movin through this electric hurried world – a zoo
Came to believe, on old emotions detached from you
And I think it’s fine too take a back seat, to read about time lost through
My unmanageable and powerless times through n through
What to do with a real depressing blue hue
Ocean view, with slimy fish forever untrue – black oily hue
All covered with shame fish not safe to sleep – in the deep
Or in this sublime fishy domain I strain
So, I’ll keep on movin to that new-found brain
Disease arrested, at my own pace…
To rest my face, and keep on in space
I need to take a few steps so as to make a trace, n try n change the human race!
How I ask a few questions
For what is worthy disregarding suggestions
Disappearing seas and earth, I moved from Births conventions
Well I did alone, before arriving at my destinations
Canned heat, with a good chance of stupidity
And the ringing in my ears from all the fears
With my mystery and the years of tears
Guess it’s not as bad as it appears
Even with all the new found fears ~ Push on gently, my Gentry
Canned heat is me, with all my glee
Just for today’s re-entry I’ll tax you all gently!

Step Two: fellowship as a power greater than our self Unity
Came to believe that a power greater than us could restore us to sanity.
When you feel like jumping out of your skin
only to "use" of your favorite sin
look to your heart within
for new strength yo bretherin
in our hearts we find special virtue
strength hope faith are there if you search too
these gifts have been sent down to you
from a Higher Power - you've nothin better to do
It is faith that keeps a soul searching true?
for the joy you heart is yearning?
Is it His love that keeps us learning?
so that we'll become discerning?
so if a hearts broken
strength remaining token
the Powers of these virtues will get you through
before on this day you get blue
so remember when troubled through...
and ready to sing out for something wrong to do
look within because if you...
you'll find a Power that's Higher than you!
Surrender to faith and then elate
that you no longer need contemplate
death dishonor depression disease...
none of these your heart does seize
www.the-twelve-steps.com
strength hope and faith come in step two
once we surrender to us come true
admission of powerlessness was not always fun
but a restoration to sanity is something we've won

Step Eleven a great way to start or learn of meditation, the ANCIENT way...
sought through prayer and meditation...
Meditation- as described in step 11 in AA or NA literature and then again in the ancient method used by monks over the ages is called "lectio Divina" -in monasteries. In the 12 n 12 or in the Step Working Guides in Step 11,
it's the same.
This poem helps to capture the essence of any version ...
Lectio: or how to read something spiritual. This is an old Judeo-Christian practice going back thousands of years. It's also an Islamic practice as the Muslim Quran means: to be read slowly! See workbook within The Twelve Steps c offered on the buy page of this website.
Lectio...The first goal is to see the author themself
in and for himself
to see it clearly simply for what it is
no symbolism ego id
the second goal is to see the individual thing
that the phrase to me does bring
as unified as one with all the other
what secrets of God do I uncover
The third goal is to grasp the first and second
to see what God wants and how He beckons
to what end do I ascend
or is He just there as a best friend
What might this be my new end ?
From a few words I'm now akin..and en-lite-end

Seeking to improve
Conscious contact with our Grove
Of our definition...
to which we’re moved ~~~past an affliction
we sought AND THUS improved
deeper insight to His moves...
Through meditation, contemplation, prayer alone
Distracting thought ~~~till later postponed
seeking only of His will shown...
on this earth spirits yearned
we found His power learned
to be filled with presence earned...
as we sit in monastic cells
with our God we finally dwell
CAN BE DAMN SURE THERE BE NO HELL.../
within our hearts from there departs
prayer to friends – still torn in parts
that they might yet RECOVER...
what our millions prior ~~~did uncover !
focused on His will for us…
and power to maintain His trust
we carry on to our ends

If a person and a half drinks a fifth and a half, in a day and a half...
