Take a first step:
Step 1: We admitted that we were powerless over (ALCOHOL / DRUGS, eating, gambling...) and that our lives had become UN-manageable.
Step 1: Powerless: People Places and Things
Art: Kristen Birdsey, Moore College of Art and Design, student illustration
Our so-called willpower becomes practically non-existent. We are unable, at certain times, to bring into our consciousness with sufficient force the memory of the suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month ago. We are without defense against the first drink (drug or whatever trips you up). - A.A. Big Book, p. 24

_These passages are in part from differing 12 step programs literature,
Step 1 is about stopping, by using a combination of; meetings, fellowship, sponsorship, literature and faith in a power greater than ourselves. For many or most this power is the power of one helping another. Here in step one we only have to "admit" powerlessness and UN-manageability in life.
Before we are too far into working the First Step, we must become abstinent-whatever it takes. "We are assuming, of course, that the reader desires to stop. Many of us felt that we had plenty of character. There was a tremendous urge to cease forever. Yet we found it impossible. This is the baffling feature of alcoholism / addiction as we know it--this utter inability to leave it alone, no matter how great the necessity or the wish.
"In the First Step, we will focus on honesty, open-mindedness, willingness, humility, and acceptance. Step One works on The disease of addiction, denial, despair and isolation, powerlessness, UN-manageability, reservations, and surrender to name a few." NA
If these words ring true to you, try a meeting...see AA, NA, Al Anon, or any

Are you at your bottom?
Tired?
Has your best friend, (alcohol, drugs...) that used to bring happiness,
become a traitor who's turned on you, making things worse?
"The principle that we will find no enduring strength until we first admit complete defeat is the main taproot from which our whole Society has sprung and flowered."
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 22
or "Powerlessness means using against our will. If we can't stop, how can we tell ourselves we are in control? The inability to stop using, even with the greatest willpower and the most sincere desire, is what we mean when we say, "We have absolutely no choice". NA Basic Text, Ch. 4
From our team: "keep it simple" -
Step One is specific: Get humble, admit you are powerless and that your life got UN-manageable...now go to a meeting, get some fellowship!
If you need rehab go to your county office not the Internet...! Celebrity rehab is for losers, get humble or die. Where you go doesn't matter, the more you surrender does!
When someone says "90 'n 90", go for it!
You don't have to understand this for it to work !
You can even hate and detest the idea.
No guarantees, but living as
"a part of" a "12 step program" yields "a daily reprieve"
and yields the greatest known chance recovery, statistically, anywhere, period!
We love you, as we were you. Now, just show up!
and, as we who came before you had to do, possibly...
Step 1, first step, step one - art gallery!
Addiction, or "addictus" is Greek, for "A slave to"
Do you want to be a slave?
As we love quotes on this website:
"Your God is whatever your heart clings too." M. Luther, 1532

The song "got out" is about me getting out of my addiction and past life...not about 12 steps. True I took those steps to get there but i don't want to directly relate my music to any of the literature of any group. |

Again, if a newcomer,
go to the resources page for meeting lists.
Or your local county hospital crisis hotline,
as the best detox and rehabs are local and county funded, even if you have no insurance. Anyone can get funding quickly, you needn't die.
This website is in the 1% on the Internet that makes no rehab referrals for profit.
Our goal is to illustrate the 12 steps,
in a FUN spiritual way, that's it.

We believe in writing on your step-work, so we made these simple no opinion journals for you.
As one famous author said:
A "first" of anything is a beginning, and so it is with the steps: The First Step is the beginning of the recovery process. The healing starts here; we can't go any further until we've worked this step. Some ... choose to work Step One in a more systematic fashion. Our reasons for formally working Step One will vary from member to member...
Whatever the case, it's time to do some step work: to engage in some concrete activity that will help us find more freedom... Our hope is to internalize the principles of Step One, to deepen our surrender, to make the principles a fundamental part of who we are. (Per one 12 step fellowships literature)

So we offer a 'no-opinion' journal.
It's spiritually priced (free shipping to inmates)
or "name your price" lol...it's spiritual, we don't care...
Writing and step-work go hand in hand...if shopping for a loved one,
get them a meeting list before a step-work journal for gosh sakes!
